Brandy E. Hicks, O.D., P.A.

Dr. Brandy Hicks was born on Bitburg Air Base in Bitburg, Germany as part of the Air Force family and grew up mostly in East Texas and South Georgia before receiving an academic scholarship to attend Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. After completing her undergraduate work in Biology, she married husband Randy, and together they moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. There, she was active as chapter President of the American Optometric Student Association and was involved in several over seas medical mission trips. She was the recipient of the Alabama Optometric Associations Leadership Award and the VSP Excellence in Optometry Award.

After obtaining her degree in May of 1999, she continued her education with a residency in ocular disease in Nashville, Tennessee. Frequent visitors to the mountains of WNC in search of good fly fishing, camping, and hiking, she and Randy decided to make their home here just after completing her training in 2000 and soon added to their family Mackenzie and Parker whom they now enjoy introducing to the great outdoors as well. After practicing in the community for seven years, Dr. Hicks now has her own full time office on Main Street in Sylva and is happy to welcome both return and new patients.
